“Mom, What’s For Dinner?” is a blog offering endless gluten-free recipes and tips. The photos are visually appealing and the recipes allow anybody to easily bring them to life. We got Christi to start using the site, and along the way, revealed her Architect personality type. Get familiar with her a bit, especially if you’re a foodie.
-When/how did you start your blog?
I began blogging in 2008 to document my recipes for my kids, just because it was faster to type my recipes than it was to write them. Then tragedy struck when my daughter was 16. She was so ill, her hair was falling out, she had horrible rashes and skin problems. She missed a lot of school from stomach pain that we could not figure out. Finally, the answer came. She had Celiac disease. I was floored. Turns out I was slowly killing her and didn’t know it. My blog changed. It was, and is now dedicated to my daughter and learning how to cook the food she loves, but gluten-free. That is how it all began, three-and-a-half years ago. Now I have my main gluten-free blog, which I will continue writing for my daughter. She is almost 20 now and I am teaching her how to cook. Soon she will be on her own, but we have already decided one day a week we will spend the day in the kitchen together so she can learn. I also have www.gourmetcookingfortwo.com where I will be posting recipes I make for my husband and me when the nest is empty.
-Have you tried any totally random food experiments using just ingredients you had on hand?
Oh yes, on a daily basis. Experimenting and getting creative is my favorite thing to do. One of my best outcomes was my caramel apple pizza.
-Wich five things should be in every kitchen?
-What’s your favorite type of place to eat?
High-end gourmet restaurants are my thing. I started going to a lot of them and I would order a lot, take notes, and then go home and re-create it. That is how I taught myself to cook. I like new, anything out of the box and creative, but I insist on organic and free range food.

-What do you do when you’re not cooking?
I love to sail, paddleboard, surf, walk on the beach, travel. All things water really!

West Steak and Seafood in Carlsbad California. Best burger ever.

The bitter end in the British Virgin Islands. Gorgeous! They have a great fancy restaurant there, too. It is to die for. Heaven on earth!

This is a hard one for me, because I don’t have too much of a sweet tooth. So I would choose a chocolate croissant. Oh my yes.

Curry and Comfort! Ramona is fabulous and brings her childhood recipes to America. I love that blog and read it daily.

Cuffs. My son hand-makes his; his site is http://www.crazykandicuffs.blogspot.com. Cuffs are all the rage here in California

The Market in Del Mar. The chef is outstanding and each time he brings something new to the table. You never know what the menu will be from day to day. High price, but soooooo worth it!
